Santi Mina scored twice last night to see his struggling La Liga Team landing in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals after a 3-0 win against Sporting Gijon making an aggregate of 4-2.

Valencia made a 2-1 win from the away leg. Supporters filled up the Mestalla stadium despite a late midweek kick off time to see  the embattled team turn their tie around.

Marcelino’s side took the lead when Mina nodded them in front after 65 minutes with the help of a deflection.

10 minutes later, he slidded to the ground to meet a low cross from close range before Ferran Torres sealed up the victory in added time.

The victory gave Valencia a welcome relief after a disappointing league campaign with the weekend 1-1 draw at home to Real Valladolid leaving them 11th in the table.

They were joined in the last eight of the Spanish Cup by Getafe, who drew 1-1 at Valladolid to progress 2-1 on aggregate
