Willian has revealed that he offered fellow team-mate and Chelsea new signing Gonzalo Higuain the chance to take penalty against Sheffield in the FA Cup but the Argentine international declined.
He said this after a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup fourth round encounter at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The winger scored 2 goals followed by Callum Hudson-Odoi Jesse 1 goal to ensure Sheffield Wednesday are dropped out from the competition.
Asked if Higuain had asked for the ball during the exchange, Willian told Chelsea TV: “No I want to give him the ball.” And he said you take it?
“Yes, I wanted him to score the first goal today. But it will come soon.”
Willian added: “We have a great relationship, we know each other inside the pitch.
“We know the quality of the players we have in front, a lot of quality players, technical players so it’s great when you have players like Higuain, Hudson-Odoi, Pedro, Hazard, Giroud. It’s good for Chelsea.”
Chelsea will play Bournemouth on Wednesday in the Premier League fixture.
