Arsenal has secured their place in the last 16 of the Europa League draw after defeating BATE Borisov 3-0 at Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
The gunners made a good come back to lime light after losing 1-0 to Bate last week in their first leg at Belarus.
Zakhar Volkov converted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s low cross into own own goal four minutes into the game and Alex Iwobi almost added another, but the visitors had chances of their own and the best of them saw Stephan Lichtsteiner having to clear Stanislav Dragun’s shot off the line.
Goalkeeper Denis Scherbitski saved Granit Xhaka’s powerful 25-yard effort before Shkodran Mustafi doubled Arsenal’s lead six minutes before end of half time when he headed home at a corner.
Later in the second half Sokratis Papastathopoulos came in on subs to head in the third goal when Borisov goalkeeper failed to deal with a corner increasing Arsenal’s lead.
While the 3-0 remained, Unai Emery’s side conserved energy in readiness to battle Southampton in their Premier League fixture on Sunday.
