Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he only wants three more prestige signings to turn the squad into title contenders.
Man United completed their first league double over Manchester City in a decade on Sunday to keep them within three points off Chelsea in the battle for fourth place.
But Solskjaer told his post match press conference that his squad will need further strengthening to be in a position to challenge Liverpool and City’s domestic supremacy in the future.
“You can see that,” he said when asked if it was one of his side’s most complete displays under his watch.
“Off the ball defensively we [were] excellent. The counter-attacking was excellent.
“We would like to keep the ball more and keep them running more but we still created big enough chances to win by more.
“We feel we are improving all the time. We lack one, two, three players to be considered a title contender and some experience.
“We are going to start talking about going up the table. Chelsea and Leicester are still too far ahead for my liking.
“For me it shows we are on the right track and improving and we are Manchester United and looking to catch the teams in front of us. That’s eight [clean sheets] in 10 so it is a foundation.”
