Ondo confirms suspected case of CONVID-19 as Gov. Akeredolu set to address residents

The Ondo State Government has confirmed that there is a suspected case of coronavirus in the state capital while assuring that the situation is currently being handled at the moment.

According to information, a returnee from Maryland in the United States of America identified as David was taken to a government hospital in Ondo State after being suspected of having the virus.

However, the man is currently being monitored and observed at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro said the people of Ondo State should not panic as the situation was already under control.

Adegbenro said, “There is no confirmed case of coronavirus in Ondo state as we speak, but we are suspecting a case based on the fact that he arrived recently from the United States, and that’s all.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ondo State, Ol­uwarotimi Akeredo­lu, SAN will today March 19, 20­20, address the peop­le of the state over the development.

This was confirmed by the Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo in a statement where he said that, “the Ondo State Government reiterates the compelling need for vigilance and adequate precaution by all.

“This is even as Government urges the people of the State not to rely solely on speculations as far as the dreaded disease is concerned.

“The State Government will be as open as possible in all manners, especially as this global challenge requires transparency and honesty to tackle.”
