Four of the six Bauchi-based COVID-19 patients recovered and are discharged.
This was revealed by the Deputy Governor, Baba Tella, while giving an update on COVID-19.
Tella, who is the Chairman of the RapidTaskforce on Coronavirus, disclosed that the results of 160 samples were taken out of 400 contacts so far reached in the state.
He explained that out of the six confirmed positive cases, the index case and three others whose second test results came out negative have recovered and have also been discharged.
“A total of 140 contacts of the index cases are being followed for sample testing in order to curtail the spread of the infection in the state.
“We are calling on people who have had contact with the positive index cases to please come out for sample tests.”
” The state has been able to procure 1,000 pieces of the medium used to convey the samples to NCDC office in Abuja for tests as the development will now ease transporting of samples,” he said
The Deputy Governor also disclosed that the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has approved the immediate release of the sum of N25 million for the fight against Lassa fever that has ravaged the state in recent times claiming many lives in the process.
He also announced the immediate closure of the two popular second-hand clothes markets to avoid the spread of coronavirus in the state, considering that those who bring the wares come from across the country.
