The president of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has denied that he wants to become president in 2023.
This was included in a statement signed on Saturday by the Media Special Adviser, Ola Awoniyi.
Lawan reacted to speculations that he could run for the country’s highest office, after the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari had expired.
In the declaration he said that harboring expectations for 2023 was too early for everyone.
“The report apparently has its source in beer parlour gossips and should be treated with the contempt which it and those who concocted it deserves.
“It is true that the Senate President was involved in the consultations that President Muhammadu Buhari held prior to the last emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress,” the statement read in part.
