Voting by delegates on Peoples Democratic Party ‘s ongoing governorship primaries, PDP has finished.

After the declaration by the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, who is the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, of the agents of the eight aspirants, the sorting of ballots has begun.

The eight aspirants in the contest are the Deputy Governor of Ondo, Agboola Ajayi who recently defected from the ruling APC to PDP, A former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, Dr Bode Ayorinde, Prince Godday Erewa, Dr Eddy Olafeso, Mr Banji Okunomo, Sola Ebiseeni and Senator Boluwaji Kunlere.

Meanwhile, with the ongoing sorting, the race as to who is going to win the ticket is tight now as Ajayi and Jegede seem to have the most votes among other aspirants.

Voting by the 2111 delegates from the 18 local government areas of the states ended around 8:00 pm as the exercise began around 4:00 pm with some aspirants absents during the process.

Ajayi and Jegede who are the top two aspirants command a large support base of PDP members across the three senatorial district of the state.

Whoever emerges the winner of today’s primaries will face Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who emerged on Monday as the winner of the APC primary, as well as other candidates from other parties.
