Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in Argentina international Cristian Pavon when the summer window opens.
Unai Emery had earlier made the 23-year-old one of his main transfer targets when he arrived last summer but the player instead stayed at Boca Juniors where he made 19 assists and nine goals last year.
About £43m was reported to be in Pavon’s contract and despite being expected to only have limited funds available for the summer window, Emery is ready to wheel and deal in order to get his man.
Emery is planning a big shopping for the summer, with the likes of Roma forward Cengiz Under and Rennes’ Ismaila Sarr recently linked to the club.
However, Cristian Pavon is the number one target and Emery will urge the board to move for the man Lionel Messi described last year as his ‘new partner’ in the Argentina squad.
