Breaking: Ondo Deputy Governor, Agboola left PDP

Ondo State Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi resigned from his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) membership just 7 weeks after joining the All Progressive Congress (APC) party initially.

A statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Allen Sowore, confirmed Agboola’s PDP defection. question

Agboola dumped the APC for the PDP in June 2020 and contested the party’s governorship primary election but lost the ticket to Eyitayo Jegede.

The statement noted that the decision to dump the PDP is focused on the need to respond to the call from his citizens to contest the 2020 Edo State governorship election.

Festus Oboro, PDP Chairman in Apoi Ward II of the Ese-Odo Local Government Area, has acknowledged receipt of Agboola’s letter of resignation on August 9th, 2020.

In his message, the Deputy Governor thanked the National leadership and PDP members for their warm reception and acceptance in the short time he joined the party.

Ajayi is expected to join the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and run on the party’s platform for the Ondo governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has fixed October 10 for the conduct of the governorship polls.
