A Lagos High Court has sentenced a notorious kidnap kingpin, Chikwudubem Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, to death.
The development was revealed in the ruling of the court on Monday.
Recall that the kidnap kingpin was apprehended in June 2017 and arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy.
The Lagos State Government stated that Evans conspired to abduct one Donatus Dunu and collect €223,000 for his release on February 14, 2017 at around 7.45pm in Ilupeju, Lagos. ask
The police in its statement noted that he managed to escape arrest for seven years.
He was arrested at his No. 3, Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo, Lagos home by a police special squad.
The kidnap kingpin then confessed to being responsible for many high-profile kidnap cases in many states of the country, especially Lagos State.
Evans also noted that he receives billions of naira from kidnapping, paying some of his victims as ransoms for up to $ 1 million each.
