Billy Gilmour impressed before the Premier League’s hiatus
Billy Gilmour has been given a squad number promotion after Michy Batshuayi’s loan move from Chelsea to Crystal Palace.
With the Belgian moving across London, the young Scot has been handed the number 23 shirt, moving from the number 47.
The 19-year-old impressed last season in his breakthrough season in the first team, with two performances really standing out.
Before the season was suspended, Gilmour had two outstanding performances when he was put into the first team.
The youngster was named man of the match in both the FA Cup win over Liverpool and the Premier League victory against Everton.
He then started the Crystal Palace match over Jorginho when football returned, but he picked up a knee injury which required surgery.
