Former Tottenham midfielder, Darren Anderton said the club needs ‘world class signings’ and Mauricio Pochettino deserves to be provided with a big budget when the summer transfer window opens to make that available.
The Club needs more experienced players to join the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen who are already property at Pochettino’s side.
Spurs were not able to make any signing during summer of 2018 and even January because of financial constraint as they battled to have anew shaped stadium which they have finally moved into.
Anderton admits that having completed the project, the club needs to make new signings that will help them next level at home and in Europe.
Darren Anderton said to talkSPORT when he was asked if Pochettino needs sizable backing once another top-four bid comes to a close; ”Yes he certainly does.
”Pochettino has done unbelievably well since he’s come to the club,
”He’s taken Spurs on and all the players who were there before he’s improved individually,
”But they’ve got to keep improving the team,
”The new stadium was built for Champions League football, not the Europa League, so they’ve got to get into that next year for sure,
”In order to bring new players in as well, if you want the best players in the world, you’ve got to play in that competition,
”When it comes down to it, they’ve got to start winning trophies and bringing in more players, world class players, he added.
