Atletico Madrid’s forward Antoine Griezmann could possibly have his future at Camp Nou as there is no certainty that the Frenchman will stay beyond the summer at the club.
The 28-year-old turned down a move to Barcelona last year and renewed his contract with Los Rojiblancos at €23m which made him the club’s highest paid player.
His announcement of the decision angered many in the Blaugrana boardroom when he released a documentary titled ‘La Decision,’ produced by Gerard Pique’s company and was not to the knowledge of the Barcelona directors.
Should Barcelona make a second offer to the World Cup winner, and subsequently pay his €120m buyout clause, Griezmann would say ‘yes’, according to the TV show ‘Jugones’ on LaSexta.
Meanwhile a French newspaper L’Equipe had on March 16 reported that Barcelona remained interested in the Atletico No.7 and that Griezmann would be interested in a move, following Los Rojiblancos’ exit from the Champions League at the hands of Juventus.
Antoine’s sister,Maud Griezmann and agent, released a statement a few days after those reports saying;
‘If there’s a club we’re currently in contact with, it’s Atletico and no one else,” she told L’Equipe.
‘Antoine is disappointed with the Champions League elimination but so are his teammates and his coach.
‘It’s exhausting reading new things every day about what my brother thinks about his future. Antoine is with France this week and that’s the only thing on his mind. I can assure you that nothing is happening at the moment.
