Atletico Madrid went down to 2-0 defeat by Barcelona at the Camp Nou after striker Diego Costa was given a straight red card in the 28th minute for insulting the referee’s mother.

Diego Costa fouled Barcelona midfielder, Arthur which earned Barca a free kick but the former Chelsea forward claimed the decision should have been in favour of his side.

From the spot, Costa had thought that Atletico would be awarded a foul but to his surprise the referee’s decided to give it the other way and he sprinted immediately towards the official to scream in his face.

The foul from Costa appeared innocuous and the referee’s decision therefore indicated that the forward was sent off for dissent.

However AS reports, the forward insulted the referee’s mother with a common Spanish phrase that is roughly translated as ”Son of a b***h”

His offense was seen to have clearly overstepped the mark and was sent off the pitch.
