Philippe Coutinho’s agent has had talks with Barcelona chiefs over the future of the Brazilian.
Coutinho moved to Camp Nou just 15 months ago on a huge transfer fee, but has since been in doubts he will spend beyond this season at the club.
Signed to Andres Iniesta, boss Ernesto Valverde is left unconvinced by the former Liverpool star in midfield and has preferred to use him on the left side of attack, as support for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, this term.
Ousmane Dembele has impressed in that role too thereby taking most of the games from Coutinho in Valverde’s preferred starting XI.
Coutinho is keen to have a bigger role in the side next season, but Valverde prefers the pace of Dembele alongside Suarez and Messi, as well as Arthur in midfield with Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic; then, there is also the incoming Frenkie de Jong.
According to reports by El Confidencial, talks were held as Coutinho’s representative, Kia Joorabchian, attempted to find out the club’s plans for the ex-Reds play-maker as well as make clear the player’s issues with how he is being used and how he feels at the club.
