Manchester United Goalkeeper David De Gea has been handed a new contract worth £350,000-a-week alongside a week time-frame to decide whether he will remain at the club or not.
De Gea has a current contract with club running until 2020 and according to The Sun, United want him to decide his future.
Regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football,he has some high-profile errors this season, the latest of which came in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea last weekend.
And it’s uncertain where De Gea will be playing next season, and that has affected his performances.
De Gea will retain his place in the United starting lineup for Sunday’s game away to Huddersfield, with second-choice Sergio Romero ruled out with a knee injury.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended De Gea and backed the 28-year-old to rediscover his best form.
”Of course we do (trust him), he’s been fantastic this season. We’re coming towards the end now. He’s been in headlines for the wrong reasons but he has to deal with that.
”The goalkeeping department are fantastic, with Emilio (Alvarez), Sergio, Lee (Grant) and David. They’re a tight-knit group. They’ve experienced better times than just now but he’s ready for Sunday,Solskjaer said.
