Referee for UCL final between Liverpool & Spurs revealed.
Slovenia’s Damir Skomina has been named as the referee for the UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Skomina was picked as the UEFA’s referees committee choice to take charge of the final on June 1. He made history this season by overturning the first ever Champions League goal using VAR.
The 42-year-old man has a history with English sides when he officiated England against Belgium at the World Cup and the defeat against Iceland at Euro 2016.
The Slovenian also took charge of the 2017 Europa League final between Manchester United and Ajax, which Jose Mourinho’s side won.
In the 2012 Super Cup final between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. Atletico won that game 4-1 courtesy of a Radamel Falcao masterclass as he was in charge.
Skomina has refereed Chelsea this season and was also the man who awarded the controversial penalty that saw United beat PSG in the Champions League.
