Zinedine Zidane has denied demanding Real Madrid to approve his son Luca as the club’s back-up goalkeeper next season.

Zidane said this following reports that he is in face off with the club board over picking Luca to play the role instead of Andriy Lunin.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference, the Madrid coach said;

“It’s not that it’s not far because [Luca] is my son but because he’s spent his whole life at Real Madrid and he’s shown he’s good enough,” Zidane said.

“It’s going to be very clear for him next year and I’ve not told the club I want Luca to be back-up goalkeeper.

“It’s something that we’ll decide in the right moment with the goalkeepers and all the players, but the fact that he’s in the squad isn’t because he’s is my son.
