Manchester United are preparing a £70million opening bid to sign Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein.
Romelu Lukaku will depart the club this summer with the Belgium forward said to have agreed terms with Milan.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to bring a new centre-forward to Old Trafford rather than rely on Marcus Rashford yet to sign a contract extension, as his only senior striker.
Goldstein claimed an insider had told him of a possible move for Arsenal star Aubameyang, who finished joint top goalscorer in last season’s Premier League, sharing the Golden Boot award with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
An opening offer of £70million is said to be on the cards for the striker who joined the Gunners in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund.
”I’ve got someone on the inside, who every so often would tell me transfer gossip,” Goldstein said. “I would say he’s got a quite high hit ratio… 75 to 25 per cent.
”He told me about Anthony Martial, which I tweeted two days before Man United even made their approach.
”He has told me United are interested in Aubameyang. He’s got two years left on his deal, is 30-years-old… he’s the finished article.
”United did something similar with [Robin] van Persie, and Romelu Lukaku is not doing it for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
”I think it’s crazy money for a 30-year-old… £70million first offer.”
