Andre Onana looks set to remain at Ajax despite being linked with a move to Manchester United.
The 23-year-old played a significant role in Ajax’s impressive 2018-19 campaign, which saw them win the Eredivisie for the first time in five years and as well made Champions League semi-finals.
Already Ajax has two key players of last season’s team out of Amsterdam Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona and Matthijs de Ligt still hanging around Juventus.
And Onana, too, has linked with a possible move to Old Trafford with United eyeing him as a possible replacement for David de Gea should the Spaniard leave this summer.
But 23-year-old Onana is in no rush to depart Johan Cruijff ArenA.
He told Voetbal International: ‘It is important to me that I play at a good level and that I can continue to develop.
‘I am still young and with Ajax we have just proved how much we can achieve with this club.
‘It will not be easy to surpass that. But I want to fight for new success with Ajax.’
The Cameroon international has been on Ajax’s books since 2015 when he joined as a teenager from Barcelona.
