FC Barcelona have identified a new target, Kashima Antlers midfielder and Japan international Hiroki Abe, Diario Sport says.
Abe, 20 featured in all three matches for Japan during the ongoing Copa America tournament,after he played at youth level.
He made 48 appearances in the J1 League for Kashima scoring four goals and won the Young Player of the Year award for the division in 2018.
The Blaugrana appears set to pay the termination clause in the player’s contract which is unspecified but thought to be minimal with a deal being concluded this summer.
When the deal is completed,Abe will play in club’s B side as the second Japanese player to join La Liga this summer after Takefusa Kubo signed for Real Madrid last month.
