Manchester City are reportedly set to resume talks on Ilkay Gundogan possible contract extension.
City made an initial approach to the German international as his contract due expiration at the end of next season, but both sides agreed that they would wait until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Gundogan was a major contributor in Pep Guardiola’s side that secured three trophies last season, but speculation has grown that he might leave the Etihad.
However, a close source to the 28-year-old has said his intention is to stay at City.
Recently, his boss Guardiola described him as an “incredibly important player” in the squad and the former Borussia Dortmund man has said he is relaxed about the situation.
In his time at the Premier League side, Gundogan has made 50 appearances in all competitions for City last season, scoring six goals with eight assists.
