Barcelona are reportedly ready to pay Antoine Griezmann’s buyout clause to part him with Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann’s clause has since 1st of July dropped to €120m and that could trigger the club could complete the transfer between Thursday and Friday of this week.
Ernesto Valverde will call back his players on the 14th July and Griezmann is expected to be one of them.
However,he is also expected on Friday to return to Atletico should an agreement not be in place.
Barça don’t want this situation to go on any longer and further disrupt the relationship between the two clubs. For Griezmann, it wouldn’t be ideal to wear Atletico’s colours again if only for a matter of days.
For this reason Barça are looking to pay Griezmann’s buyout clause before the end of this week.
If an amicable agreement can’t be reached with Atletico, Griezmann’s representative would need to go to the LaLiga headquarters and deposit his client’s buyout clause. This would then free up the forward to complete his move to Barça.
