De Ligt: Ajax captain drops out of tour squad to attend his Juve move talks

Ajax captain, Matthijs de Ligt has been left out of the squad for a training camp in Austria so he can attend to his Juventus move talks.

The Dutch defender has been linked with top European clubs including Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United and Paris St-Germain.

But the 19-year-old Eredivisie title winner, Dutch Cup and Champions League semi-finals player appears he is closer to Italy than others.

De Ligt joined the club at nine and made his Ajax debut in 2016 with 13 goals in 117 games for the club.

The Dutch club confirmed this in a statement saying: “[We] left Saturday afternoon with 28 players to the training camp in Bramberg, Austria, Awaiting a possible transfer, Matthijs de Ligt does not travel with the group.”

The Serie A champions are thought to be the favourites for De Ligt’s signature and are reportedly close to a £71.6m deal.
