Atletico Madrid new signing, Kieran Trippier has described his new boss Diego Simeone as one of the best coaches in the world.
The Englishman has expressed his excitement about his new challenge and he has revealed that playing in LaLiga Santander was a dream come true.
“The Premier League is one of best leagues in the world, but when Atletico were interested I didn’t think twice,” Trippier said.
“Not many British players come abroad, but I always wanted to play abroad, especially in LaLiga, since I was young.
“I’ve been watching Atletico for several years and for me [Simeone] is one of the best coaches in the world.”
Last season’s Champions League final was Trippier’s last game with Tottenham Hotspur, incidentally at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, before he informed Mauricio Pochettino of his decision to depart the Premier League side.
“Me and Mauricio Pochettino had a conversation,” Trippier added.
“I explained there was a big opportunity to join Atletico and it was one I didn’t want to turn down.
“We were close [to win the Champions League with the Spurs]; it just wasn’t meant to be.
“But there is a great manager here, great players.
“Me and the players will give everything to help the club win trophies in the next few years.
