The Spanish clubs have had a busy transfer window so far with each adding depth to their squads this summer, combining to sign 16 players, with Barcelona bringing in three, Atletico Madrid signing eight and Real Madrid landing five.

Not over yet as they are still more signings to come but, with the bulk of their squads constructed, it is already possible to get an idea of how they will be shaping up in 2019/20.

These three giants clubs are in to buy big players, but the respective deals for Paul Pogba, Neymar and James Rodriguez remain complicated.

Ernesto Valverde will have plenty of firepower but needs to find a way to make it work on the pitch, while Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho could still depart.

Nelson Semedo will battle with Sergi Roberto at right-back and Samuel Umtiti will be keen to challenge Clement Lenglet to earn his place back and accompany Gerard Pique.

In midfield, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic are indisputable, leaving De Jong, Arturo Vidal and Arthur Melo competing.

Rojiblancos’ squad will differ most from last season having lost huge players in Juanfran, Diego Godin, Filipe Luis, Rodrigo and Antoine Griezmann.

Kieran Trippier, Mario Hermoso, Marcos Llorente, Felipe Monteiro, Lodi, Hector Herrera, Ivan Saponjic and Joao Felix make up their eight signings, totaling 250 million euros.

Diego Simeone will start the Englishman on the right, Llorente in midfield and Joao Felix will become a franchise player.

Up top, it’ll be Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa leading the line.

Zinedine Zidane has five new faces to work with and only one of those can be considered a certainty to start – Eden Hazard. Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Luka Jovic, and Rodrygo will be second string, with the latter to start off in Castilla.

Thibaut Courtois will be the first-choice goalkeeper. Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Marcelo will start at the back, though Mendy will compete with the Brazilian.

Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro will make up the midfield – unless Pogba arrives – and Hazard will accompany Karim Benzema and either Marco Asensio or Vinicius Junior in the attack.
