Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe on Saturday fell 2-0 to Barcelona and despite losing the midfielder was glad that he had the chance to go up against his former club.
Kobe created few chances throughout the game but ultimately a brace from youngster Carles Perez sealed the win for the Blaugrana.
And Iniesta speaking after the match said; “It’s been strange facing them and not [having them] as teammates, the Barcelona players.
“I enjoyed it and savoured it. Generally speaking, I don’t think we were that bad. It’s been a special day. I’m happy.”
In terms of his feelings about the day itself, Iniesta claims that his mind was only focused on football once the first whistle sounded.
“It’s been weird and special,” he intimated.
“Once the game starts, you worry about playing and doing a good job.”
Most players tend to exchange shirts at the end of the game, but Iniesta made sure he got as many Barcelona shirts as possible.
“I’ve taken almost all of them,” he joked.
“More than anything for my teammates. I’ve been lucky enough to play there for many years, but they haven’t.
“I brought a backpack – there’s about 20 [shirts] in there!”
