Saudi Arabia appoints Herve Renard as new coach after resigning his role from Morocco following their last-16 exit at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month.
Renard spent three and a half years in charge with the Moroccan National team before ON glory has now agreed terms to lead the Asian powerhouse, Saudi Arabia.
The 50-year-old Frenchman led Zambia (2012) and Ivory Coast (2015) to AFC.
On completing his new deal, Renard took to Twitter to express satisfaction having found a new destination;
“Happy to start a new adventure in Saudi Arabia on a new continent!”
Juan Antonio Pizzi stood down following the country’s Asian Cup campaign in January and the Green Falcons eliminated in the round of 16 which led to Youssef Anbar taking over temporarily in March.
“The first coach in history to achieve the African Cup with two different teams,” Saudi Arabia said as they announced Renard.
