AFCON: Mubarak Wakaso vows ‘no retirement without trophy’ with black stars

Mubarak WakasoDeportivo Alaves and Ghanian midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso in an interview with Citi TV has vowed not sign out of his national team until he wins a trophy.

Wakaso who was part of the Black Stars in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament was overwhelmed with emotions when his side were eliminated by Tunisia in a penalty shootout.

Ghana will have to deal with another trophy drought after 37 years without the Afcon title until 2021 where they can attempt to win it.

“I can’t complete my time with the Black Stars without winning something,” he said on Face to Face on Citi TV.

”I need to win something before I stop.

”To be honest there are young ones coming up and we have to make way for them to also continue but we must set an example for them to come and continue.”

He however, had one of the most exciting tournaments as he stood out in Egypt having won himself two Man of the Match accolades for his displays.
