FIFA announces expansion of teams for WWC


fifa rule out plan to increase number of teams for 2022 World CupFIFA has announced the expansion of number of teams to participate in Women’s World Cup, WWC fron next tournament which is scheduled for 2023.

The WWC has been expanded from the existing 24 teams to 32 for the 2023 edition.

FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, had earlier proposed a five-point agenda to grow women’s football with expansion participating teams from 24 to 32.

Now, the Association on Wednesday took to the official website to announce the new number will take effect from 2023.

”The FIFA Council has unanimously agreed to a proposal to expand the number of teams taking part in the women’s World Cup from 24 to 32.

”This is with effect as of the next edition of the tournament in 2023.”
