West Ham have completed a summer transfer deal for £2.75 rated young Portuguese defender, Goncalo Cardoso as their fifth of the window.
The centre-back has joined on a five-year deal worth £2.75 million, with an option of a further year, from Primeira Liga side Boavista.
The 18-year old Goncalo Cardoso, will wear the No.20 shirt for the Hammers.
On completing his move to the London Stadium, he said: ” I am very excited and it’s a dream come true.
“I always dreamt of coming to England and now I’m here at this big, historic club, so I’m very happy.
“I’m an aggressive player, a little bit different on the pitch than off it.
“I’m calm, and I like to have the ball and build the game from the back. I’m here to work and to help the team reach their goals.
Goncalo Cardoso was part of the Portugal squad that reached the final of the European Under-19 Championship this summer.
He made 15 senior appearances for Boavista in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and will provide cover for Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena
The Hammers have now signed five players this summer with Sebastien Haller, Pablo Fornals, David Martin and Roberto Jiminez Gago also arriving.
