Paul Pogba won a spot-kick when he was fouled by Conor Coady but then saw his resulting effort brilliantly saved by Rui Patricio in the 68th minute.
Before then was a conversation between Rashford, who scored from the spot last week against Chelsea, and Pogba before the Frenchman stepped up.
The chat looked friendly enough too but questions are going to be asked about why Pogba was on penalty duties.
And speaking to the press after the match,Rashford was asked why it had to be Pogba and how he felt his side missed a chance.
“It is of course disappointing, disheartening, but we can’t let it get to ourselves early in the season.
“The last time we came to the stadium they [Wolves] were the much better team, but today was a different story. It has always been a tough place to come and today proved it again.
“It was a different role, throughout the whole squad we can change roles and positions and for the goal it was overload on one side so it worked.”
On the missed penalty the England International said; “Paul wanted to take it, it’s that simple.
“Anyone can miss a penalty, he has scored so many penalties and it is normal to miss one.
“It is simple, if you want to take it, you take it. I took one last week so for me it’s no problem that he took it.
“It’s unfortunate he didn’t score but that’s football. The confidence that you’re going to score is always the same. We practice all week and we score the majority of them.”
