Manchester City star, Benjamin Mendy was on Wednesday spotted training alongside his teammates as he stepped up his recovery from the knee injury which kept him out for much of last season.
Having endured an injury-plagued two years, the 25-year-old was, unsurprisingly, in good spirits as he joined in a squad session for the first time in 2019/20.
A metatarsal problem, followed by successive knee injuries, restricted Mendy to just fifteen appearances in our Fourmidables campaign and missed City’s Asian tour to focus on his fitness recovery.
This latest milestone in his recovery process suggests that he is edging closer to returning to match action, although Pep Guardiola said last week that it was important that the Frenchman trained regularly over a number of weeks before he was selected to play.
It therefore remains to be seen whether Mendy will be fit enough for this weekend’s trip to Bournemouth, when the boss speaks to the media on Friday afternoon.
