Super Falcons Defeats Bayana Bayana to retain AWCON Title.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons took  the South African Babes Bayana Bayana in the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) final on Saturday.

The tie which took place at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana’s capital city, Accra saw both teams battled up 120 minutes without goals.

Nigeria knew a win over South Africa will determine their chance to France in 2019 as African queens.

They had defeated the indomitable queens of Cameroon 4-2 in a penalty shoot out to face the South African babes.

Being the title carriers for the ninth time in history,the Super Falcons made an impressive fight back to ensure victory at penalty shoot.

They defeated Bayana Bayana 4-3 in penalties from Rita Chikwelu, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Chinaza love Uchendu and Ngozi Ebere

The West African side is most decorated team in the history of the AWCON having won a record 9 titles and fully qualified for 2019 World Cup in France.
