Igbo Man Must Go For 2023 Presidency Despite IPOB Attack -Ohanaeze

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the socio-cultural organization Igbo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu, said that the latest assault on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by some representatives of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, will not influence the quest for an Igbo person to become President of Nigeria preceding the reign of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Some members of IPOB had last Saturday attacked Ekweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany, where he was to give a keynote address at the Second Igbo Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo Germany

Ibegbu who spoke in a statement on Friday, recalled that similar attack on ex-President Goodluck Jonathan by some Ijaw militants in the past, saying that did not stop him (Jonathan) from being President, neither did the rejection of former President Olusegun Obasanjo by the Yorubas in 1999 stop him from becoming President then.

He said, “Even the murderous activities of Boko Haram and other seperatists in the North did not stop Yaradua and Buhari from becoming Nigeria President. Why should IPOB and MASSOB activities which are even done peacefully be a threat to Igbo Presidency project. No , I think it will even enhance it. In any case, its not Igbo Presidency but Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction.

“We, however advise all our Presidential materials to begin to build bridges and network with other zones of the country, while all political parties in Nigeria should zone the next Presidency to the South East and Igbo land in particular. Its the most just, fair and equitable thing to do for the sake of our unity and development.”

The spokesperson rejected the allegation on the rumor in some quarters that Ekweremadu and Chief Nnia Nwodo, President-General of Ohanaeze, gave out some land for RUGA in Enugu with enormous returns, stating:

“It’s the handicraft of Ndigbo’s enemies and the fifth columnist as nothing like that occurred. Let them find evidence of such callous allegation.”

  1. If our people care to understand Nigerian politics and the primary needs of the Igbo man, to hell with the Aso Rock. Till our political leaders stopped playing political sycophancy, and develope the spirit of Igboness like Ikemba Nnewi and Onunaka Mbakwe, Igbo Presidency will remain very elusive to the crop of today’s Igbo politicians. They are selfish, arrogant, and would like to do more to please their northern godfathers at the detriment of their our people.
Give Igbo man the working infrastructures, working business environment, security of life and property, electricity and good roads, Aso Rock can go to hell.

  2. They’re just chasing shadows. I which it will not be too late by the time they come to their senses. Nigerian president my foot.

  3. The Tacts of Nnamdi kanu is to brainwash most of his illitrate followers and tell them lies….e.g Buhari cloned…it is ridiculous,he wants to become supreme head of NDIGBO.

  4. When a person a group of people or tribe cry or out that they are marginalised ie a sign of insecurity the ibos should sit down or go back to he drawing board and plan a future for itself just like the yoruba or hausa are doing, nobody gets a position of power by day dreaming. Ibos are always talking about business pls note it is power that control the economy not business most lbo young men don’t bother to go to school,
You will never hear a Jewish man talk about their flight with the Germans , they sat down and plan they are super power in any field you can think of. The germans can mess with them..NDI IGBO THINK ,IPOB IS NOT THE SOLUTION

  5. James Chukwu, your comment is bad concerning your own people. In Nigeria today, where do we have more educated people? Everybody will not go to school, but we have more educated people in our land more than we have in other land.
Coming to your comment about IPOB, anyway, even if IPOB is not the solution, but at least, the organization has helped Nigerians to understand the evil agenda of the Fulani people in Nigeria. Even Obasanjo respects IPOB leader, and many other sensible people from other tribes respect IPOB. A prophet is not recognized in his home town, but that’s an unfortunate situation. Check out how many northerners that are criticizing Boko haram even though it is a deadly and notorious terrorist group. Yet I have not seen any evil committed by IPOB. Let’s watch out to see if there will be any president in Nigeria from Igbo tribe. 2023 is on the way, then we shall see what will happen. We will know the validity of IPOB.

  6. Igbo presidency is possible, if only the igbos will see enough reasons to tune down the level of hatred they dispense with every opportunity they get, like the writer said “building bridges” everyone he has mentioned built bridges across the country not spreading and engaging in an unnecessary sentiment, hatred, bigotry and other vices of disunity. It is time to build bridge for a Nigerian president of an Igbo extraction.
