Manchester United Aaron Wan-Bissaka reveals what Pogba told him before the former Crystal Palace player started his United games.
According to Wan-Bissaka,Paul Pogba offered him a reassuring word ahead of his debut which helped him settle as a new reds player this summer.
Wan-Bissaka was part of the travelling squad on the pre-season tour to Australia, Singapore and China, with the defender explaining how Pogba helped settle the nerves before his first run-out in a United shirt against Perth Glory.
“Coming into this team as a new signing, you’re not nervous but you think: ‘Am I going to settle in quick?’ But they were all good to me from the start, which made it so much easier,” Wan-Bissaka told Inside United.
“The older players help me a lot. Paul Pogba has advised me a lot. That first game in Perth, he was telling me the same thing everyone has: you’re here for a reason, play your game, play without fear, get up and down – that’s what I put into my head.”
Pogba’s sound advice helped Wan-Bissaka make a positive start in pre-season, and he has carried on that form into the new season.
The 21-year-old made an immediate impact in his Premier League debut for United in the 4-0 win against Chelsea, and he admitted he has kept a souvenir from the game.
“I’ve made sure I kept my shirt from the Chelsea game, so that’ll be getting framed and going up on the wall at home,” he said.
