A’Ibom: Gov. Emmanuel Approves Promotion Arrears for 6k Workers


The Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration has approved a release of the 2017/2018 promotion arrears for over 6000 workers.

This was disclosed by Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien while speaking to newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday stating that Governor Emmanuel’s decision to approve and facilitate such release was to give way for the 2019 promotion to be closely followed.

Governor Emmanuel had during a media chat in Uyo, the State capital on Tuesday attributed his initial hard-starting on government-worker relationship to huge arrears of debts and backlog of entitlements of civil servants inherited from the previous administration.

The Head of Service said the Governor has also approved the release of funds for the scheduling of the pre-promotion examination seminar and subsequent conduct of the Administrative and Professional Officers Compulsory Class Examination (APOCE) and other Promotion formalities.

Essien who described the Governor’s gesture as another demonstration of his usual sincere concern for workers, acknowledged that in addition to regular payment of salaries and gratuities, the Udom administration is currently handling affordable Civil Housing Scheme project for Workers.

The project involves two Housing Estates with one located at Ikot Ntuen Nsit in Nsit Ibom L. G.A,along Abak Road and Ikpedip Ibiono /Itak Ikono, along Uyo Ikot Ekpene Road, to ensure that Public Servants Own their own houses on a rent- to-own basis.

Speaking on behalf of the workers, Mr Essien extended his warm felicitations to the Governor as the State marked the 32nd Anniversary of her creation in a grand style and with various activities including the of life-touching projects commissioned.

The head of service expressed appreciation to the Governor for his continued concern for workers and congratulated the benefiting workers as they migrate to their next grade levels.

However, he charged the high employees with the tasks of reciprocating the kind gesture of the Governor and assured the Governor of the ongoing assistance of the employees to allow him to fulfill his Agenda of Completion
