Chris Smalling, an AS Roma defender, is said to have been robbed in his own home in Italy.
Three suspects broke into the former Manchester United star’s home while he was at home with his family, stealing jewelry and cash.
“Chris Smalling and his family were robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of Friday morning as armed men entered his home just outside Rome and stole watches, jewellery and cash,” SPORTYWAP reported.
“The Roma defender missed his side’s Europa League quarter-final tie against Ajax on Thursday as he was recovering from knee discomfort.
“Three men entered the home in the Appia region just outside of the capital after removing a grating from the player’s bedroom window, according to Italian news agency Ansa,” the story continued.
In October of last year, the 31-year-old made his loan spell at Roma permanent for €15 million.
Meanwhile, Roma will face Torino in Serie A this weekend, before facing Man United in the Europa League semi-finals.
