Istanbul is, probably more or less, Liverpool’s home ground and the and the Reds painted it big defeating Premier League rivals, Chelsea FC on Wednesday’s night to claim UEFA Super Cup trophy.
Both sides fought out the normal ninety minutes into extra time ending 120 minutes with a 2:2 draw and headed to penalties where new signing shot-stopper, Adrian kept out Tammy Abrahamās spot kick in 5-4 to paint Istanbul with Red.
And the Red boss, Jurken Klopp speaking after the game said;”It was a very difficult game for both teams. It was all about winning it and we did that in the end.
“Nobody in the stadium wanted extra-time, it was a killer. I’m not sure about the penalty but who cares now.
“We started well then dropped off… we could talk about football but it’s too late now. We had to fight and the boys did tonight.”
On his new goalkeeper Adrian, Klopp added:Ā “What a story. He kept his nerves together.
“He’s loud in the dressing room already. I don’t think he’s won a lot in his life so it’s good for him to win it. He made some unbelievable saves, both keepers did, so I’m really happy for him.”
