Three members of the Odua Peoples Congress were released by the Oyo State Police Command on Tuesday (OPC).
SPORTYWAP recalls that the command had on Sunday arrested the OPC members.
The OPC members were apprehended after Isikilu Wakili, a Fulani herdsman, was apprehended by the OPC. Wakili is accused of orchestrating a series of bombings, murders, and kidnappings in the state’s Ibarapa geopolitical region.
Owing to the infamous activities of alleged Fulani herdsmen who were accused of terrorizing innocent people, the region had experienced a series of security breaches.
Mrs. Sherifat Adisa and Dr. Fatai Aborode were among those killed by suspected gunmen in the district.
According to unconfirmed information circulating in Ibadan, the state capital, the detained OPC members had been moved to Abuja for further investigation, but the state police command insisted that all of the OPC members remain in Ibadan.
Police Spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi told SPORTYWAP that the OPC members are still in Ibadan, contrary to insinuation that they had been transferred to Abuja.
Fadeyi told SPORTYWAP that the OPC members are still at Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku in Ibadan.
The OPC members were released on bail on Tuesday, SPORTYWAP gathered.
According to SPORTYWAP’s sources, the three men were released from the Iyaganku police station about 5.40 p.m. on Tuesday.
