Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, has reported that the number one threat to Africa’s development is insecurity.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Adesina claimed that insecurity has become a political and economic problem.
Terrorism, he says, is reducing spending on the African continent.
”Terrorism is reducing Africa’s investment prospects. Insecurity isn’t a political problem anymore. Insecurity is a financial issue.
”Security and growth must no longer be isolated. In Africa, we must ensure security and stability.
“New financial instruments are required in Africa to protect and secure investments in countries and regions against rising insecurity,” he wrote.
