Manchester United are still hopeful in their pursuit of Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt despite earlier reports claiming they backed down following a recommendation he will add up weight in the future .
Ajax sporting director, Edwin van der Sar has suggested De Ligt will be heading for England or Spain this summer with Barcelona standing as long admirers as well as United and Liverpool.
However, Reports this week had suggested the teenager was heading for the Nou Camp in a big-money deal but United are trying to trump Barca with a stunning offer.
His agent Mino Raiola is demanding a bigger salary for the Dutchman and a higher agent’s fee to complete the transfer the only stumbling block which United have made a last-ditch ploy to snatch him from Barca.
With the Red Devils, seeking a central defender they are ‘economically more committed’ to the deal and would give Raiola a reasonble offer to land the Ajax youngster ,Catalunya Radio says.
